To The Bone has a no-tolerance policy for harrassment or unkindness. Homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, and other discriminatory behaviors are unacceptable between players. All out of character (OOC) interactions must abide by this policy. In character (IC) interactions must tackle sensitive topics, beliefs, conditions, or behaviors with care for what other players may find triggering or upsetting, and the construction of these characters must be done with care to avoid harmful stereotypes or gratuitous violence/hate simply for the sake of being violent and/or hateful. This applies for the Discord community as well.

Completely banned topics include: overly gratuitous sexual descriptions; fetish/kink content; pedophilia; non-consensual sexual encounters. These aren’t really topics I would want to read about on a normal roleplay website, let alone on one populated by very sparkly wolves.

Your first offense will result in a warning. Further offenses may result in a ban. To The Bone aspires to be a close-knit community drawn together by shared creativity and having fun—hopefully you know how to be a good person and you’re willing to bring that energy into your conversations and character threads!

To The Bone is a literate to advanced-literate forum. We ask for a minimum of 1-2 solid paragraphs per post. Quality is valued over quantity — take your time, write with intention. Intermediate- to advanced-level ESL (English as a Second Language) speakers are encouraged to join, especially if you are seeking to improve the strength of your English writing!

AI-generated imagery is not allowed on To The Bone. AI-generated writing/the use of AI to clean up writing is not allowed. AI utilization is permitted for brainstorming, generating poses or concepts for artwork, or for error-checking codes with disclosure. The final work posted here should always be your own. It’s okay if you’re not a confident writer or artist. The whole point of this site is to collaborate together and have a fun time. We all start somewhere!

There are four bad behaviors you ought to avoid when writing with others—powerplay, or inflicting damage/stating FOR another writer how their character responds; godmodding, or creating a character able to get out of any situation with ease due to endless powers; metagaming, or using out of character knowledge in a way that informs a character’s in character thoughts/actions/behaviors; and retconning, or rescinding/acting as though something that happened in character previously never actually took place. Additionally, trying to cheat isn’t cool or fun. Please keep it respectful!

To the Bone is a slower-paced site, and at this time will not be requiring activity checks. You do not need to notify us if you will be absent for some time, but please check in with your writing partners as a courtesy. Please be realistic about the amount of time you can contribute to the site; for example, characters with leadership responsibilities must maintain a higher level of activity than casual characters.
